Simply Believe

Max Lucado writes the book, John 3:16 about the simple truth of my belief. That God loves us so much that He sacrificed His only son that if we belief we will not perish but have life everlasting. What Lucado stresses in his book is that all that is asked of us is to believe. We don't have to earn it or prove we are worthy, just believe. So simple but so hard for some to do. There is just something about us, humans, that want to complicate things. Surely there must be more that is expected of us? Nope! Just believe and He did it all for us, the unworthy, the hopeless, the broken, the insecure and uncertain.

JJ Heller wrote a verse in her song,"Not for what you have done, or what you will become. I'll love you for you." That is my favorite verse in the whole universe. It is not about what I have done or will do, it is about His amazing love for me. It is as simple as that. That belief is what I know and what I cling to. Ryan couldn't lose God's love by his actions anymore than I could lose His love by speeding in a school zone. God loves each one of us, period.

I believe the reason this concept is so hard  to just believe is because we don't love with that same unconditional love, agape love. People can earn our love and more tragically they can lose our love through their actions. God's love is everlasting and His only desire is to spend time with us. There is nothing He needs from us it is just that He wants us. Amazing!

This is my truth. This is my comfort. I rest in God's loving arms and reach for Him no matter what my circumstance. Thank God for my faith and my amazing truth.

In Him,
Joyful
