Elissa and Natalie Fighting Over Taxidermied Me

I don’t know whether to be honored or terrified. My grandgirl, Elissa, told me that I need to be in her life for the next thirty years. Well, at sixty-nine I am not sure that is going to be a wish I can fulfill. Then she told me if not she will stuff me and sit me in a chair so I will always be with her. GROSS! Our conversation got a bit out of hand when we chatted about adding some mechanicals to make me have huggable arms. Arms in, arms out, arms in, arms out. She told me that my kids would always be welcome to come visit.

When I shared this silly conversation with my daughter, Natalie said she gets first dibs because she is my daughter. She said she will tell Elissa that she can visit at her house. Crazy. How about I just get turned into ashes that everyone can share. Or better yet a hologram of me singing with my most beautiful voice.

I am choosing to be flattered rather than disturbed by these disturbing conversations. Knowing that God has my days numbered in my human form is a comfort. Nobody really needs me hanging out all taxedermied up in their homes. Be happy with your memories, photographs, and videos of my laughter. Until then, I will sit in your chair and give you embraces that still have my warmth as the best part of them..

In Him,

Joyful
