Abandoned In A Snowstorm

I am not Paul Harvey, but I do want to borrow a line from him. After writing about Jenn the other day, I decided I need to tell the REST OF THE STORY about the snowstorm.

So we were stuck for over an hour on our front hill road coming back from a school conference. As I said, we had stopped for 44oz. drinks at Sonic, and I needed to relieve my bladder. After I opened both doors and squatted in between, I jumped back in the car. Inconspicuous I am sure. That is when a guy came up a knocked on the window. He said he had a plan to get us moving and needed our help.

I told him I could drive a stick shift, so he had me go back and get in his truck while he went up to stop oncoming traffic. Now, I was dressed for the conference and didn't even have on snow boots. I hopped in his truck and could barely fit. He was moving and had the back end and the cab stuffed with his stuff.

It worked! He got our side moving. So off I went in a stranger's truck, on the side of a icy, snow packed road on the side of a cliff. Jenn was a few cars up, and I lost sight of her. When I got up to where this guy was holding up traffic, I stopped so he could hop in. WAIT! The cab of his truck was packed to the ceiling. How were we both going to fit? He jumped in, and I crawled on top of his stuff with my head bent to my lap. Awkward! Now I am not shy and am always up for an adventure. But this was ridiculous! The roads were dangerous, I had no seat belt and was seated next to who knows who! Then I realized that Jenn was gone. I quickly called her on her cell, and we agreed on a place for me to get dropped off and picked up. It couldn't be too soon for me. I am not a skinny, little thing that can be folded into a pretzel.

When we finally got to the meeting place, I told him to just drop me off. He barely slowed down! Oh wait, that isn't how it happened. He stopped in the middle of the road, got out, and then I unfolded myself and crawled down off his pile of stuff and out of his truck. Thank God! Then I looked around and could not find Jenn. What? It was a blizzard, and I was not dressed for hiking around in a foot of snow. Just when I was about to give up and sit down for a good cry, Jenn pulled up.

What a story! It is crazy situations like this one that bring us closer together. We thought we were going to have a good story about me peeing in the road. Then it evolved. I told Jenn I was going to tell everyone she abandoned me in a snowstorm. She told me she was telling everyone I crawled in a truck with a stranger. I guess all of them are true.
A boring educational conference ended with a story we will never forget.

In Him,
Joyful
