Elissa’s Prayer
Lord above comfort me
Give me courage
Help me see
Guide my actions
Guide my words
Let me know
My prayers are heard.
My granddaughter lived with us for 7 months last year. Her parents are going through a rough time, so we got to have her in our home. I was so much more organized with her than I ever was with my 4 kids. We brushed our teeth twice a day, flossed, said prayers, and read books before bed every night.
The first few weeks she was with us, she had a difficult time sleeping. At 4 years old she had rarely had a room of her own. Establishing routine and convincing her she was safe took a lot of patience and routine. Providing her with consistency got us through the first month together.
She is back with her mom now, and I feel comforted that she recites this little prayer when we talk on the phone. I cannot keep her safe from 500 miles away. But I hope she realizes that I am praying for her every night, and that she can pray for comfort and courage whenever she needs it.
A friend of mine gave me a little ceramic bird for my desk at school. It is a reminder for me not to worry about my kids or grandkids. That God has them all in His hands.
Matthew 6:25-26. Do not worry about your life. Even the birds of the air, our heavenly Father takes care of them.
In Him,
Joyful
