Now, we couldn't quite understand the usefulness of having a remote but we began to conjure up scenarios in which a remote to nuke food could be handy. Say you had already put the bag of popcorn in the microwave the hour before, just in case you would get the craving for popcorn, and found yourself on the other side of the kitchen. REMOTE! Mind you, you would have to just happen to have the remote with you when this occurred. It would be pretty silly to keep the remote next to or on top of the microwave, or you could just push the buttons. Now if you had the remote and you were on the phone, corded phone, in the other room and you had accidentally pushed 1 minute to heat your coffee instead of 2, thankfully you could use the remote!
Needless to say, we were getting pretty worked up with excitement and possibility about a microwave with this handy feature. Luckily, this model was no more expensive with this incredible bonus feature.
So when we unpackaged the microwave in her kitchen we were extremely disappointed to what looked to us like packaging error. The now needed remote was not in the box. So Julie picked up the phone to ask them to send her 1 right away.
The confused lady who answered the phone was kind but not understanding our situation. As we explained again and again, she kept insisting that they didn't make microwaves with remotes. After giving her the model # and still not getting anywhere, we asked to speak to a supervisor. Having been filled in by customer service lady #1 she got on the line and asked why we thought we would need a remote for a microwave. This was a ? we had answers for since our enthusiastic drive home. She listened patiently, reviewed the model #, even looked up a picture of the box we were talking about. Finally, she informed us that what we thought was a remote was actually just a picture of the machines control panel.
'Oh, never mind.' Guess we really can live without a remote at this time.
