Camping Barber Style

Ron and I have spent our lives camping and enjoying the outdoors. We started out in a tent and had to haul everything out of the garage and into the vehicles. When we had 4 kiddos, we progressed to our beloved, 1975, 18 foot, yellow, camper van. Oh the memories and miles we have logged in that old van. We went from the Arctic Circle to the Florida Keys and crisscrossed our amazing country in between. Not only did we fit us and the 4 kids, but several trips my mom joined in the fun.

By the time the kids got in their teenage years, we bought a tent trailer to pull behind our Banana Boat of a camper. When we brought home the tent trailer, our kids could not believe we actually bought something so new.  Guess we couldn't blame them we are notorious for having older vehicles and never parting with any of them.

Now that the kids are gone, I told Ron I really need 2 things our camper van is lacking; a bathroom and a bed that can be slept in while the table is up. Didn't seem like too much to ask, after all we are getting older and have to potty and sleep more often.

Ron and I are now the proud owners of an actual motorhome. Okay, it is still only 18 feet long but it has a toilet, a sink about the size of a dinner plate, and a flexible shower head that you can use while you sit on the throne. There is even a drain right in the bathroom floor so you can shower and take care of business at the same time. Well, you could if there was a holding tank, guess that is something else I should have asked for.

When we told Cam about our great, new RV his reply was, ' I don't even want to see it unless it is at least from the 80s. Excuse me, everyone knows the best motorhomes were built in the seventies. Of course, he did come check it out even though it is a 1977 model.

Okay, so we are not quite ready to give up the Banana Boat cuz our new C class RV is not quite ready for the road. So far we have tore out all the cowboy curtains and got rid of the dreadful smelling cushions. Lissa and I tore out 3 layers of linoleum and 2 layers of carpet and now need to remove the ceiling that is inching ever closer to the floor we have tirelessly scraped.

Ron wants to gut it completely and change the floorplan around. Hey, don't get rid of my potty! So it may be a while before we get this newer camping sensation out on the road. But, hey, we still have the tent trailer and yellow camper van to use in the meantime. I will just have to continue to be good at squatting in the bushes. At least, we are not in Alaska where it never got dark. That was a bit awkward at times.

In Him,
Joyful
