Morning Quiet Time

Snow is falling gently outside, gramma bread is baking inside filling our home with a heavenly scent. Everyone else is sleeping and here I sit by the fire with a cup of strong, black coffee and my blog. Soon the house will be all a bustle with kids and grandkids getting ready to venture out for a day of snowboarding and sledding, but for this brief moment I can sit and appreciate the quiet, still of the coming day.

Here on my corner of the couch is where I enjoy greeting most mornings. This is my spot to do Bible studies, blog, facebook, read, and pray. Taking just a bit of time in the mornings before life ramps up to full speed helps me focus.

This week our home is full of family, with Dorothy, Elissa, and Danny here from Arizona. Tomorrow they will go home, next week we will all be back at our work routines, and the house will be quiet most of the day. But for now, enjoying each of those around me is my only plan. With the house so full it is easy to neglect getting one on one time with those I love. But that has been a priority for me this go round. I need to listen to their thoughts and know for myself how each one of my family is doing. How else will I know just how to pray for God to give them the strength and direction they rely on? Oh, I know God can handle this without my help. But I am so much better when I take the time to stay close to him and share all my thoughts with Him.

The oven timer just went off and I hear people starting to stir. Now, I will face my day with a grateful heart and a smile.

In Him,
Joyful
