Our 2015 From The Land of Enchantment

Merry Christmas from the Barbers in the Land of Enchantment

Our song, "Oh wouldn't it be nice if we were older?
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long."
has new meaning as we approach retirement.
Ron retired after 37 years at the National Labs and I plan to retire from the
middle school next summer. We spent a lot of time on the road visiting family
and friends this year and hope to travel even more as we start this new chapter of life.

Cam and Britt's family continues to grow their church in Lakewood.
CalvarySouthSound.org is where you can find all the love they are sharing.
I especially love their Women's Wednesdays and Two Minute Messages
on Facebook most everyday. Not only are their words inspired, but we love
seeing their sweet  faces as they share God's word.
Their kiddos survived Papa babysitting for four days in September.
No one had to go to the hospital for food poisoning so it seemed like a success.

Dorothy and Hector are enjoying the girls as they grow together as a family.
Ami is such a little cutie. Her 'Sissy' Lissa is her absolute favorite person.
Lissa is now in middle school but is patient with Ami even when she is trying to do homework.

Tanner and Bethany are in Sherman Oaks, California.
They continue to love each other through thick and thin.
Bethany teaches Yoga and just got a new car to make life easier in 'Big City' traffic.
T bought a motorcycle much to his parents worry.

Natalie is living right, smack on the beach in Oceanside, California.
We were lucky to get to spend a few weeks with her this summer.
She is looking forward to Ryan moving down near her as he graduates from UC Irvine.

So our kids have moved to the west coast.
Guess all those camping trips in San Diego over the years had an affect on them.
We were fortunate enough to have extended trips to spend time with each of them.

In 2014 we gathered to wish Ron's mom, Mary, a happy 90th birthday.
This year we celebrated we celebrated her life, in January, as she left
us for her heart home in heaven.
Mary was such an amazing presence and will be missed by so many.

In Him,
Joyful

  1. Your plans for more travel in retirement sound like fun, and congrats to you for retiring next year. My husband and I love being retired.
