Filters Barb Filters these are words my helpful Ronnie B feels the need to say to me to keep me in check. To begin with that would seem inappropriate that a husband tries to silence his wife’s words or actions. But the truth is that he provides the bumpers for me at times like a bowling bumper to keep the ball from going in the gutter. Each of us uses filters to keep us out of the gutter. There are things we can express with one group that we would never dare to say with others. Whether those filters keep potty words out of our mouth or they keep us from offending others, filters are a necessary part of how we act and interact with others.
There need to be people in our lives that keep us in check. Most of the time we are pretty good at using our own judgement on how we act and what we say. But every now and then we get a little crazy and throw a gutter ball. That is when we need people we trust to gently put us back in our lane. My daughter says she loves that I am a random person. It is fun to have wild and craziness in my personality. But there are times when I go a bit too far with my tomfoolery. That is when a grownup needs to step in and tenderly remind me of who I am and what I want to represent. Jenn sometimes calls those who fill this role stacking dolls that try to put a lid on her. I am a stacking doll for Jenn at times. Someone who holds the ribbon to her balloon so it doesn’t float away. It is frustrating when someone checks us but in the end we are grateful for those who love us enough to let us know we have lipstick on our teeth or a booger hanging out.
Filters Barb Filters so I won’t share my first thoughts when Ronnie B catches my gutter ball. That would not be appropriate for this post.
In Him,
Joyful
