An early morning butt dial connects us to those we need to be in touch with. Leona says that whenever her phone butt dials it is my phone number that is called. For some reason that just makes me feel so honored. The magical thing is that we have not been in touch lately so my number should not be in her que. My thought is this is not at all magical but God’s way of saying we need to catch up and stay in each other’s lives. I was excited to see her number come up at 5:30 this morning because I have not been good about reaching out to her. It gave me an opportunity to check in and tell her that even in my silence she is often in my thoughts and prayers. Then I sent her a picture of my coffee cup sitting on the heart coaster she made for me several years ago.
Leona is such an important part of my family. She has been close since she was a shy twelve year old. I had the privilege of teaching her to clean house and benefited from her thoroughness for years. It was hard to see her move to another state but I am convinced that is where God led her family. Now I need to not just think of her but reach out and connect. There are so many that I need to call or text. It is just a shame that I get caught up in my own routine and let days or weeks even months go by without hearing the voices of those I love so much. Well, here is to hoping if Leona and I don’t call one another at least her phone dials me as a God directed butt dial.
