Ron and I had a blast on our wedding day! 32 years ago we were all dressed up and having an amazing time with our families and friends. We were both still in college, so our wedding was perfectly timed to be the day after finals before all our friends left for the summer. Our church was young, and we were honored to be the first church members to be married there.
It was my dream to make my own dress. Mission accomplished with a bit of help and advice from a friend. Those tricky V necks are so hard to match up! My bridesmaids were decked out in butter yellow and apricot dresses that matched my simple but lovingly made gown. Ron was all decked out in his snazzy brown tux.
I worked at a local drug store, and since the store was open not everyone was able to attend our big day. Not to leave anyone out, I promised Ron and I would stop by in our wedding attire on our way to our honeymoon suite. A promise is a promise, so I told Ron we had to stop. Seeing the bride and groom run into a drug store probably raised a few eyebrows. Wonder what they forgot! We laughed about that later.
It was not until the next morning that we realized what our quick stop meant. We were dressed for a wedding and had not brought any street clothes with us. Eating at Denny's at 9am in wedding dress and tux with our hair not quite what it was the day before caused a bit of a scene. Ignoring the stares we ate hungrily, gazing into each others eyes and giggling to ourselves.
In Him,
Joyful
