A family is formed through love, one way or another.

When Ron and I found out that it was absolutely impossible for me to get pregnant, we immediately started working on adoption. People were full of advice about the best way to find a child. We were willing to do anything and everything to start a family. It seemed the best chance was to write a letter with a picture of the two of us and send it out to OB/GYNs across the country. We were even advised that the quality of paper we used could make or break someone's decision to pick us. So you can imagine how stressed we were about getting the perfect picture of us. We sent out 3,000 letters and barely scratched the surface of Drs. in the U.S.

One afternoon, Ron's mom, Mary, was over at the house and said she would help me stuff envelopes. A few hours went by, and we were having a great chat. She stopped in the middle of licking an envelope and started to laugh. I thought for sure the glue was getting to her. She took my hands and looked me deep in the eyes and assured me that God had a baby out there for us. It touched my heart but didn't explain why she was laughing. She pointed out that essentially by sending letters we were "making a baby," and she never thought she would have an active role in that process.

Mary was right, we ended up having 4 great kids that God had planned for us. Ron and I didn't "make a baby" in the traditional way, but I would not trade my 4 wonderful, unique kids for anything. A family is formed through love, one way or another!

In Him,
Joyful
