Each morning, I start my day with 3 wonderfully funny kindergarten boys. Throughout the day I work with 5th and 6th graders in small groups. Although I thoroughly enjoy my 5th and 6th graders, those little guys just steal my heart. They are all smart little boogers, and we work a lot on socializing. This is code for play therapy. As you can imagine, I have a blast letting my imagination create outrageous activities for them. It often involves our gynormous, comfy bean bag and sometimes glue. Yes, I am a teacher and gynormous is a REAL word. Because I said so! This beanbag is big enough for all 4 us and more.
Today was one of those sad/happy kind of days that you get all emotional about. Ms. Chavez, our aide, is going to have a sweet little baby, and today was her last day. She has been so amazing with these little guys. Ms. Chavez is only 24, but she has this personality that just knows instinctively when to be patient and when to lay down the law. The boys adore her and are so sad that she won't be at school for awhile. But we are all really excited for her that she is going to get to meet little Matilda next week. Kristen is going to be a wonderful mother and is blessed that her own mother and family are nearby to lend a hand and enjoy her little one.
So today we made a special party for Ms. Chavez. The boys signed a memory book for her, and we ate cinnamon rolls, veggies, and fruit. We found out quickly that one little guy did not like the snap peas we gave him. They just seemed to grow in his mouth until he made it to the wastebasket to spit them out. Yuck! The boys had fun playing a game and saying their good byes. It is always hard to know you are not going to see someone for awhile that is a big part of your daily life and someone that you love.
Missing someone lets us know how important they are to us. We will miss you Ms. Chavez and can't wait for you to text us pictures of your little bundle, Matilda. We will miss you because we love you.
In Him,
Joyful
