So much of our video was shot in our 1975 old, yellow camper van. The kids laughing and cutting up, pure silliness. How I miss those times. Tanner saying,"Look at me, I am a buzzing bee." Ryan trying to cover his mouth and Natalie just standing there laughing at her crazy brothers. Such carefree times with us all together. Cam in the back trying to not laugh at the ridiculous antics of his 2 little bros.
Our family took that durable old van from the Arctic Circle to Key West and so many amazing places in between. We always tried to have everyone journal on those trips and even the act of writing brings a smile to my face. Whether it was Natalie constantly asking how to spell every word at 5, and Tanner patiently trying to help her, or Cameron trying to write more pages than anyone else, cuz he was the oldest. Those journals, as well as the pictures and videos tell the story of our multiple trips as a family throughout the years.
Even though, there is only a seat and a bucket for a toilet, we managed to spend weeks if not months traveling the US in that banana van. It is only 19 feet long and on a number of trips we even took my mom or other family members. So, needless to say space was tight and we were forced to pack light. Usually, a hand towel would be packed instead of bath towels to save room. On 1 trip to the Northwest, we picked up Aunt CindyHoney and 1 year old, cousin Briana. Our kids were mortified when their Aunt had the gall to bring beach towels. You would think she had committed the ultimate sin. Ah yes, Ron and I had taught them well to travel light.
Traveling light should never mean going without cameras and journal materials though. As we look back through our lives in these dog eared notebooks with ever improving handwriting, grammar, and spelling (even Natalie's) we cherish the trips through our children's words and the photos and video that was captured along the way.
In Him,
Joyfully recalling every mile
