Fall Festival at church ended with a fall in the parking lot. Jenn and I were there to be Pick a Pocket ladies so we had wonderfully made aprons that Sue Souza made us loaded up with all kinds of candy and toys. The Festival was not well attended so sad after all the wonderful decorating and preparation by people just wanting to show kids a great time. So we were leaving to go hand out candy to trick or treating, Mountain kids around the neighborhoods. Somehow Jenn fell and knew immediately her arm was broken. We found out later it was her elbow that is broken.
Halloween is always difficult for my friend, Jenn, although her love of kids keeps her from taking to her bed every year. Her Mom tragically died 19 years ago and Jenn rode in the ambulance with her on Halloween night. Her mom was found bleeding in the parking lot right next door to the church parking lot Jenn fell in tonight. Seemed unbelievable as they loaded her into the ambulance. Her memory flashback of taking off her skeleton earrings as she prayed for her Mom in that ambulance brought tears to my eyes. Since her Dad had died suddenly when she was 8 while on a trip with her, her Mom's death left her parentless. Losing both parents and being an only child would have been overwhelming to any of us. Reliving it would be more than most could handle.
Jenn has an amazing spirit and pours her love on all around her. Her counseling office at school is just as likely to have staff being comforted as students. She has built a family of friends around her and is always there to support others.
Tonight was so hard missing her mom and reliving the ambulance ride. She is braver than she realizes and more admired than she could believe. This year to date, she has had 2 surgeries for cancer yet she is still there for anyone who needs to whine or complain or just let out a few tears.
In Him,
Joyful
