A few years back, Ron had this amazing, stress reducing idea for the holidays. Just to make it more challenging/interesting he proposed we shop for several gifts in specific price ranges. We had to buy a $1. gift within a dime, a $5. gift within a quarter, a $10. gift within fifty cents, and finally a $30. gift within a dollar. The good news was I would get several gifts to open from him. The bad news was I had to creatively shop for his gifts and prove I followed the plan with receipts accompanying each gift.
It actually turned out to be loads of fun and took some of the worry out of finding just the right gift. Or maybe, it made it more crucial to find just the right gift at just the right price. I love my husband and his quirky ideas, but I will wait to tell him till after the holidays since his gift is purchased, wrapped and the receipt tucked out of sight. I sure don't want to remind him and have to start all over!
One way I have always bugged our kids is with the traditional Christmas Eve gift to open. We always let them open one gift on Christmas eve so I put them all in matching bags to open every year so I could find them under the tree. They always knew exactly what was in those Nativity gift bags; pajamas! My kids didn't think that was exciting, but I knew we would be taking pictures on Christmas morning and I wanted them to be decked out in their new jammies.
This year, I am excited! I don't have to buy a multitude of gifts at very specific prices but I did manage to find pjs that I think will excite my kids and grandkids. That is my challenge every year to find jammies that are unique and exciting. Hope the metallic feathers are somehow snuggly and warm.
In Him,
Joyful
