Driving A Time To Pray

500+ miles of driving for 2 days with a couple more in front of me has been exhausting. The fact that our hometown is being threatened for the 2nd time with a ravenous forest fire breathing close to our neighborhoods. This is a time when I long to just be with my arms around my family not driving down the road. Ironically, I made terrible time yesterday due to torrential rains and fog through northern Cali.

Whining does not help and I should have learned years ago that I need to embrace the moment. So attitude change is in order. I am blessed to spend this time with my adorable, easy going granddaughter in the car. We have laughed, sang our songs, and swam every morning and evening. The scenery is beautiful as I drive down highway 5 looking out at the efforts of those who supply us with fruits and vegetables. The orchards and fields are encouraging. How awesome is it that there are those whose life work is to provide others with life's foods? I love looking out at the endless rows of trees of various sizes, those who have produced fruit for years and those who have just been planted.

Last night, I finally slept rather than spending the night searching for a clue if our home will survive this. Like the internet can predict this for me? Silly! Why is it I take a few days to realize my time is so better spent worshipping and praying for all that is and all that will be.
