Timber In The Summertime

It is summer vacation when I get to sit out in my beautiful backyard and watch families enjoying the park. Happy noises accompany all those coming to the park for their own particular brand of relaxation. Some come to train their dogs, others to swing or play soccer, then there are those who are just walking or running through. The basketball court is occasionally utilized while the benches are often sat upon by those like me who want to be a spectator of all the pleasant activities here.

Today, Mom and I began the day out in our comfy chairs watching life at the park and the evening had those at the park watching my yard. This was the day that Ron, T, and Zach felled the last of our great, dead poplar trees. It was quite a spectacle as T first climbed the wobbly tree to attach the ropes and then they took turns with the chain saw and ax. They were waiting for the park to clear out before they let it fall even though they were secure in the way it would tumble. It was futile to expect an empty park on a warm summer night when everyone could see a big event was about to take place. Cautiously, they did stay well back and wait patiently as the process unfolded. Seconds before the mighty tree kissed the earth, an unaware skateboarder zipped into the action path. Luckily, he was clear before 'Timber' was called and he was excited that he was just in time for the show. Although the tree top smacked the trampoline, its force was not enough to cause any damage.

It is now an improved park skyline with the last of our 3 trees missing. But the debris field in the backyard is extensive. There will be a lot more work to do in the next few days. At least it is muscle building work for our buff guys! It made me smile watching them work as a team and strategize about this task. There looks of accomplishment moments after it was successfully on  the ground were touching. Working together is always more fun not to mention safer than working alone.

I am loving summer even when it is more than just sitting in a lawn chair with ice tea and park sounds.
Wonder what tomorrow will bring. Oh yeah, a whole lot of wood work!

In Him,
Joyful
