My Number Is One

One, my number is one and I am so grateful for that number. Natalie and I watched 'Crazy, Stupid Love' last night and one scene asked the character how many sexual partners he had had in his life. His number was one also. The movie made it seem pathetic that this guy had only been with his wife. It implied that he had missed out on life.

I want everyone to know there is absolutely no shame in being faithful to the one you love and not getting on the experience is bliss train. When I share my number with Young Life kids they brush it off that I am old and grew up in the olden days. The truth is Ron and I made a decision to wait for each other while so many of our friends were sleeping around. Trust me there was a lot of free love in the olden days.

It breaks my heart that young people and even people my age don't value themselves enough to share such an intimate, special part of themselves with only ONE. God has a plan for each of us, Jeremiah 29:11 tells us so. But His plan is for our JOY in Him not our satisfying our every lustful thought.

I would not pretend to judge anyone for their number, even if it was triple digit. Why is it so shocking or laughable to have the number one? I thought being number one was what each of us desired.

Jeremiah 29:11  'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'

In Him,
Joyful
