"Seek the face of God not just the hands of God." This statement from our pastor has really been on my heart this week. I need to spend time in relationship with Him it is where my strength and peace come from. When I seek His hands is when I am asking for help for myself or someone I love. Though His help is needed my real comfort is from deepening my closeness with Him.
Another reality hit me last week as I stood talking to a mother whose son has fallen apart. I used to say there is hope as long as they have breath. Standing there sharing about my Ryan's death and listening to her share about the years her son will likely spend behind bars was humbling. At that moment with tears pouring down our cheeks I realized Ryan is safe. I never have to worry for my son again, not the choices he makes, the pain he endures, the sadness in his eyes. His life as well as his death have impacted the lives of so many. The truth is even after there is no longer breath there is hope. He no longer needs the hands of God but continuously enjoys the face of God.
In Him,
Joyful

OH GOOD GLORY....you've moved me! I love your Pastor's thought. I have friend whose children are now face to face and GLORY that is a wonder to rejoice over. Yet we still have the weeping moments while we draw breath. Thankful that He comforted you in such a sweet way.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog, Barbie. You amaze me.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 105:4...Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
ReplyDeleteWhen my first husband died and we were all in a state of bewildered shock and brokenness, my mother-in-law recalled a time when he said to her (he was adventurous)..."Mom, if anything ever happens to me, you don't have to worry because I'm gonna be okay. No matter what, I'm gonna be okay"
And to know that...to know that they are truly in the presence of God's face, is the best comfort there is, isn't it?
