We almost quit. All our lives are busy with work, families, and all the other essentials that we try to cram in. Natalie and I missed our sign language class 2 weeks ago when we were both sick, then drove the 45 minutes to go last week only to change our minds. So tonight was tough to return after missing 2 weeks of vocabulary. It was so close to a bail out on the rest of the course today. But in the end we got our courage on and went to class. I am so glad we did. It is so easy to quit, so tough to stick it out to the end. Life gets in the way so none of us have perfect attendance in life. But a few absences should not knock us off track when we are pursuing something we love.
Natalie told me when we went the first night that she felt like she came home. Signing matters so much to my daughter and has been an important part of my life since I was a teen. This matters not only to further our sign fluency but as something we are sharing along with the drive to and from class. I cherish the conversations shared with my brilliant daughter. She is so deep and opens up with her hopes and heart when we drive down. It makes me glad that the class is not just down the street but in the next town.
We have 3 classes to finish. Tonight Natalie told me she hopes to do the immersion program in the Spring. Hurray! My daughter has dreamed of becoming an interpreter tonight we took a step toward that instead of plopping down on the couch with our laptops. My heart's desire is to have enough sign to be able to sign to worship songs in church, in the car, and anywhere I can praise my God.
Philippians 3:14
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
