Snuggling, snuggles, hugs and kisses are so important in our lives. We all yearn to be touched, held, and comforted. Reaching out with open arms to each other lets us know we are cherished. Even our pooches yearn for a rub or pat on the head. My kitty demands it while rubbing up against my shin to let me know it is time.
This season of JOY putting Jesus first, then Others, and finally Yourself remember those who don't get as many hugs and reach out. Living close to my grandkids I get to chew on their sweet, soft necks and hug them so much. But it occurs to me that my own mother and mother-in-love who are both widows don't get the physical touch as often. I pray we can be more aware and reach out more often to those in our community, churches, and workplaces that may need a squeeze of the hand or a pat on the back. We all know if someone would take offense to a big bear hug. But that doesn't mean a slight touch would not be welcomed.
Maybe a massage gift certificate would be the answer for someone who lives alone or who is not close to their own family. All I know is that my mom wallows in the snuggles when she is here with the kids and I hate the thought that at home she is not nurtured physically as much. Guess I will take my own advice and get online to order her a massage for Christmas this year.
Be thankful for all in your life who reach out and hug you. I love Sunday morning when my sweet husband goes up and gives our young Pastor a big, warm hug. This shows me how much Shawn's letting God speak through him touches Ron's heart. Don't hold back on expressing your love and gratitude to others with a loving embrace.
In Him,
Joyful
