Pity Party, No Just Get Over It!

"Just get over it!"
Those were Paul's words that my son, Cam, brought yesterday. Philippians 4 reminds us to not get bogged down in the petty frustrations and disagreements with each other. But keep our hearts and minds focused on:
whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is rightwhatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:8).
I am so guilty of getting caught up in the little wrongs that come my way during the day. Yesterday didn't go as I planned. Lissy got sick, the grandkids were too pooped to come with us to the lavender festival with me. The day turned out beautifully even with the resets. The weather was perfect, festival was fun, Lissy felt better, and the grandkids left at home got much needed rest and relaxation.
Attitude and focus are key. So how do I focus on what I should focus on rather than instantly planning my pity party rant? Take a breath and remember that the situation will probably not be life changing.
Tracy and I are now officially past the halfway point in our Whole 30 month. It was important to me to be obedient and have self-control. Last week I took a bite with cheese in it. RATS! When I confessed to Tracy her first response was to ask how wonderful it tasted. Sweet lady. She didn't scold or whine at me just got a bit jealous at the thought that I had a bit of cheese. That little bit of cheese didn't satisfy me or ruin my plan. It was a mindless oops and that was not earth shattering. What I chose to focus on was that I went 15 days with only one slip up. The fact that I have not been too hungry or deprived has been a gift of prayer. Tracy and I are lifting each other up in prayer constantly. What a gift to have this connection with a beautiful lady all the way from Peru.
Focus on the blessings not the disappointments. Easier said than done is true. Even when I do throw myself a pity party I need to take a breath, say a prayer, and "Get over it!" I think Ron, Lissa and I said that a hundred times yesterday. Which just proves that we all let little things get to us way too often. These three little words will be my 3 word prayer for now. Hope you all see a change in my attitude~~if not!
You will just need to~
Get over it.
In Him,
Joyful

  1. Philippians 4:8 is one of my favorite guiding Scriptures and helps lift my spirits when followed, after learning about recent events in the news. You are doing very well with your 30 day project.
