Sayings, Verses, Songs That Get Us Through the Circumstances of Life

Lord above
Comfort me
Give me courage
Help me see
Guide my actions
Guide my words
Let me know
My prayers are heard.

This is a song called the Prayer by a local artist in New Mexico. Over the years I have come to call it Lissy’s Prayer. I sang it with Lis when she was little and she and I even sang it at her Daddy, my son’s, funeral. What I like about this little verse is that it has all that I need to remember in a time of trial or anytime I just need to be reminded that God is just a whisper away. There were times in my career that I had tough meeetings with tough parents. Rather than reacting negatively or taking their frustrations personally, I could sit and repeat this prayer in my head. It really accomplished just what I needed to stay calm and focused.

Comfort, courage, direction and to know that He is right beside me in each and every circumstance. That is what these sweet words have reminded me of over and over in the past twenty decades. In life we get sayings that just stick that we pull out when we need to be reminded of how life should be lived.
Robert Frost’s The best way out is always through.
Is another one of these life sayings for me. When life seems too much to walk through it is a good reminder that no storm lasts forever.

I am sure each of you have your own sayings that come to mind and get you through. It would be great if we could have a list that would pop up just the right one at the right time. That way we wouldn’t waste time with worry and despair that are neither productive. But focus on the truths that we have learned over a lifetime of living.
Now my wrist has a permanent reminder of what is my life verse in tattoo form.
Let love
&
Kindness
Be the
Motivation
In all
You do.

On the back window of my car I have a sticker that I see in my rear view mirror that says
Be joyful

To me joy is Jesus, Others then Yourself.
It helps me to remember that road rage is not the right response.

Let me know your life sayings. They will probably be just what I need.

In Him,
Joyful
