It just cracks me up that Ronnie B is so dumbfounded when dealing with people on the phone while trying to get things done. Yesterday, he tried to cancel a flight and it was hilarious. After an hour of chatting with a number of people he still had to begin again at square one. He ended up with a second frequent flyer number and account. Now he had to start working on deleting that one.
Eventually, he got to a place where they wanted to give him security questions. I sat there rolling in laughter as he tried to remember the color of his childhood home and what his favorite winter activity would be. At some point it even gave him options of how he would handle an emergency situation. This couldn’t be real!
The truth is that I take care of most of the online and phone tasks in our house. It is not uncommon to burn up and hour or two and not accomplish what I set out to do. But Ron was just blown away that a simple thing like canceling a flight could be so involved. Can I just let you in on a little secret. The whole problem was that he set up his frequent flyer account before there was email. Since their was no email attached to his flight he never got a confirmation. The phone number on the account was not his cell number and we both had to try to remember our old house numbers from a couple houses ago. It just kept getting more comical. When he finally had everything set with his aol email and his phone number he was ready for a beer. The last guy wanted to know if he wanted to hold to apply for a United credit card. Um no. How long would that take and he was not sure he even knew his mother’s bra size. So he just hung up and will make do with the credit card in his wallet.
In Him,
Joyful
