The Katkos to the Rescue with their Subaru

Sometimes it is so hard to weed through the scams to find a vehicle, sell land or just find the perfect pet. Then it occurs to me that rather than searching Craigslist or Auto Trader why not put it out there to your social media family that know and care about you. We were looking for a car for our kids in Los Angeles here in Los Alamos and they were searching in the other LA. Nothing was feeling right especially when the seller would hang up and not answer calls after a few questions like what is the vin.

Scam after scam until I finally put it out there to my community on Thursday. By Friday morning, Mike Katko and his wife Debbie had responded not only with the perfect car but for way less than it was worth. It even had brand new tires and this generous couple even filled the tank with gas. Unbelievable! But not really if you know Mike and Debbie you know they are always about others. So now our kids are going to have a reliable Subaru Outback to help them get back on their feet.

When Mike said how much he wanted for this well maintained car, I found myself looking it up on Kelly Blue Book but not for the reasons I had looked up the scams we ran into. This time I was looking it up to see how much more Ron and I should actually pay for it. When I told Mike that we needed to pay a thousand dollars more, he responded to make it five hundred and give the rest to your great-grandson. He had met Elissa and Caleb when he came over to show us the car. What a guy!

Next time we need to look for something rather than turning to strangers on the internet, we need to remember that someone we know may have just the right solution for us. Seems simple but not always our first go to in a new situation. Kind of like when we face a trouble rather than taking it to God we wring our hands and talk to everyone but the one who can guide us to the right solution. Seems like we didn’t just get hugs from Mike and Debbie along with the perfect car but that we got a lesson moving forward for next time.

In Him,

Joyful
