Staying Close to His Overflowing Love to Overflow on Others

To know Him and to make Him known.
The only way we can stay filled when pouring out to others is to continue to be filled. Otherwise, our glass will empty. Soooooooo it is necessary for us to stay close to Jesus so that we can continuously pour out His love on people who we encounter. His love spigot is a nonstop flow. By keeping in relationship with Him we will never empty.

This glass can only stay filled because it is upright. The water keeps coming so overflows causing everything surrounding it to get wet/ affected by it. When the glass is tipped to pour out it will soon empty. That is how our hearts are if we don’t stay connected to the Father. Like a glass pouring out rather than being overflowing.

To know Him and to make Him known has always been one of my life goals. It points out that I can’t make Him known if I don’t know Him. Likewise, to be able to love others I not only must love myself but be filled with God’s love. The line in one of my favorite songs is Show me what you see when you look at me….Show me what is real more than what I feel….Stained Glass Jon Guerra. His words touch me because I must stay close to God to see who He says I am not what I see in the mirror of my own mind.

So I want to be loved to love. Stay close to be filled with the love and truth of who I am to Jesus and who others are to Him through me. I don’t want to move away or tip over to pour love but let the love that overflows from my relationship with Him be what pours over others around me. I have always loved the image of God’s love as water pouring through my heart.

I hope to some day capture this heart image in a tattoo. God’s love continuously flowing into me and multiplying to pour onto others. Taking the time to stay connected in relationship matters. It took me a lifetime to realize who important it is to not only love Jesus and allow Him to love me but to spend time with Him. Stay close enough to feel the splash of His love wash over me. That is when I can flood others with my love and His grace rather than trying to love in my own strength.

In Him,

Joyful
