The Unexpected Pause to Life’s Cruise Control

What are the things that just make us go what? I love random, weird ideas and thoughts. They make us pause and consider. To often we just glide right through life and get so comfortable in our routines that it is like we are living on cruise control. Then something odd catches our attention and we notice, really notice. Now the eggs don’t taste like chicken is just an example of things that might make us scratch our head. Like why do so many things taste like chicken rather than pork chops or broccoli.

Do you ever wonder how a phrase got started in the first place? Luckily, with Siri and Alexa we can just ask the question and the answer or an answer will be instantly available. Why do we put syrup on pancakes but jelly on toast? How come we towel off to dry ourselves then put lotion on for moisture? There are too many questions. What do you google most? I find Ronnie B and I want to know the age of people we are watching on tv. Yes, I would say we ask for the age of others the most. Yet we have never asked Siri how old we are. Now I have to pause writing and see if she will know my age. FYI she doesn’t.

It is good to be lifelong learners. Schools even put that in their motto. So being curious is a good thing. It gets us not only questioning but researching. Then we can share our new found knowledge with others. Okay, some of our searches should remain just for us. Do we really want others to know we did an internet search on how best to get pasta sauce off a bathroom ceiling? This could lead to an awkward conversation about what made this necessary.

So go forth but take time to wonder about the unexpected in life. Seek and you will find. It may not be what you expected or even accurate but it will get your mind engaged. That is always a good thing. Now I may need to go back and be reminded that life on cruise is not better by watching the movie Click again. Even our mundane routines have elements to enjoy if we take the time to observe.

In Him,
Joyful
