Our favorite beach that used to cost $3. a night now costs $15 and there is much less beach to camp on. There are now a bunch of high rise condos where we used to park our 1975 yellow camper van. The people in those fancy resorts may have room service but we still have the best spot on the beach. While they have to drag their expensive bags onto the elevator, we are out on the beach hunting for shells. Our views are oceanside and our cookouts are right on the sand.
Natalie is our only girl with 3 older brothers. She has always wished for a sister. My niece, Kati, is the only girl in her family with 2 brothers. She has always wished for a sister. What they realized a few years ago out on the beaches of Mexico is that they were not missing a thing. Neither of them needed a sister when they had a cousin who was like a best friend. Now Kati is a couple years older than Natalie and she is just beautiful. Natalie has always envied Kati and looked up to her. What Natalie didn't notice was that she was maturing into a beauty herself.
On that trip to Mexico, both our girls brought their special guys with them. But they still managed to spend bonding time with just the girls. Someone took a wonderful picture of the 2 cousins laughing about some private funny. It is a treasured picture made more special when Kati placed it in a SISTERS frame and gave it to Natalie a couple years later.
Sometimes the very thing we long for is right there in our heart. It may just come with a different label.
In Him,
Joyful
