'Mrs. Barber, I LOVE YOU!' kindergartners make my life smile. This adorable little fellow was used to seeing me only in my classroom. Carrie brought him to me and took him away after class every morning. When he saw me in the school office, he was a bit shocked that I actually leave my classroom. Who knew I was allowed to roam around the school like that. So he sees me in the office, cocks his head, says these precious words, then runs and jumps in my arms. My eyes fill with tears, this time joyful tears.
It has been a month since I lost my own son. And I wondered if I should be back at work yet! Yes, this is what makes me whole. Thankfully, when I am overwhelmed with grief, my Mountain family covers for me and the kids are none the wiser. My grief is forgotten, if only for a moment, when a lovable student brightens my world.
In Him,
Joyful
