Let’s see, if I have class at 8:00 am, if I set my alarm at 6:00 then I can wake up and go back to sleep for an hour. That was my mentality during college. Poor Susi had to put up with my alarm going off every fifteen minutes for a couple hours everyday.
My thinking was, if I just set it to go off when I had to get up, I didn’t get to really enjoy sleeping in. So much better to be awakened early and then roll over and get to sleep longer.
‘Turn that DAMN alarm off now! What are you thinking? It is 5:00am and you don’t have to be to class until 9:00am.’ Susi used to get a bit upset with me during college for my linnocent little quirk. See I decided it was wonderful to get to sleep in and the only way to really enjoy it was if I set the alarm way early. That way I could roll over and go back to sleep. I mean, how can you enjoy sleeping in if you just sleep through it. Taht is no way to get the full affect of the sleep in experience.
Yes, I was extrememly irritating to live with. I don’t know how Susi put up with me. She did complain that this little idea of mine was waking her up over and over again. Cuz I concluded that if waking up early once was enjoyable, waking up every half hour for a couple hours each morning would be amazing!
Why she didn’t just hurl that alarm clock at my twisted head is surprizing. She did talk me out of my alarm mania by just quietly turning it off during one of it’s multiple morning ringing sessions. So after missing a few classes, I got the hint and returned to using the alarm to wake up at the time I needed to get up. Not as exciting and I still think I was not able to get the full appreciation of my sleep this way. Oh well, dorm room harmony is a good thing too!

Joyful
