On My Knees For Campers

Down on my knees. Natalie told me how powerful the Cross talk was at camp on Monday. It was made even more memorable by the 5.7 earthquake occurring right in the middle of the speaker explaining Christ's sacrificial gift for each of us. The whole camp regrouped on the sports field and the talk continued. Then the summer staff of high school and college students went silently across the front with their cardboard testimonies. Each had a simple piece of cardboard that had a problem or heartache on 1 side and God's gift or solution on the other. Natalie bravely wrote her brother's suicide on 1 side and that God was here beside her on the other. These bold young people were sharing their most intimate selves with middle schoolers, hoping that 1 of their stories would touch someone sitting quietly on that field. That at least 1 teen would find Christ's comforting arms to rest in, was each of their hopes.

Down on my knees praying for kids at camp this summer is my call. Not only Young Life camps, but church camps all over our nation need us to pray. Pray that kids hearts will be turned. That teens and those leaders will be moved to Christ. There are countless issues facing young people today and it is so much harder when they face those concerns without a relationship with God. The least I can do is pray this summer for all involved in Christian camps around America and beyond.

In Him and on my knees,
Joyful
