No Tardies Ever!

No tardies! How do we convince parents that their kiddos need to be at school on time every single day. It breaks my hearts for the little ones who come in late day after day. They miss the important start to the day when the others are all lining up and coming in all excited. The teacher greets them and gives them the first instructions for the rest of the day.

If only these parents could see how these tardies affect their kids. They lose so much of the sense of community and they feel shame at being late over and over again. When the reality is they have no control over their tardies or their parents lack of regard for their education. Unfortunately, these are usually the same parents who don't get forms turned in on time, or permission slips, or reading logs. These little angels learn to cover up for and make excuses for their parents. When the other moms are their helping out at school they secretly wish their moms were the volunteering type.

If only we could get those parents to think of the 15 minutes before school as a recess their kids should never miss. What a difference that would make!
