Remember those chameleons we got at the state fair when we were kids? I know there are not any sold at the fair now days. Lizard brooches the carnie guys called them. Animal rights people would not approve of the torture we put them through, pinned to our shirts with a little string leash just so we could watch them transform into the color of our sweater. Throwing balls into goldfish bowls or purchasing those crazy, color injected, baby chicks would not fly anymore either. Thankfully!
Back then we didn't even think about how the animals felt it was all about us and what would be fun for us. Today we are raising our children to be more aware of the people, animals, and world around them and how their actions impact each. What a better place it will be as these more conscience kids mature into adulthood thoughtfully considering others on a daily basis.
My generation worries about the technological improvements and how they will influence our world. We must guide youngsters to carefully consider what and how they are using social networks and other new and improved gadgets. But my belief is that they are more relaxed and comfortable with themselves than we were as kids.
Empowered by knowledge that is just a click away, kids today are certainly different than we were so many moons ago. But I find that encouraging! No more shutting up and putting up with bullying, animal cruelty, or ignorance of environmental impact. These next keepers of our world will do a much better job than we did. I don't know about you but I look forward to them keeping me on my toes to carefully consider my actions in respect to everything in my life path.
In Him,
Joyful
