Half Baked!

Ever do something so dumb but you just did it without thinking it through? Well of course you have. We all have. I just was reminded of one of my best or should I say worst bonehead ideas. Right before we were getting married 34 years ago, I decided it would be great to walk down the aisle with a tan. Now we got married right after finals our junior year of college so I had no time to go lay out in the sun. I had to work, finish details of the wedding and study!

Then my classmate told me she had a sunlamp. Perfect! Multitasking is such a time saver. Unfortunately, I neglected to read the dangers like close your eyes and don't use more than 10 minutes in any area of skin. Well, I plugged that puppy in and sat for hours studying with it directing it's rays up at my face. No big deal until much later that night at work when my eyes began to weep and my skin began to crinkle.

Needless to say, this was not an even tan I had been going for. Instead, I got severe burns on my eyes and a huge triangle peel on my neck that wouldn't stop oozing. Not the look I was going for as the soon to be bride to be.

Why don't I learn to think before I act?  Here I am 34 years later and still I jump into 'great ideas' that turn out to be not such great ideas. Guess I shouldn't get so irritated with my dog who seems not to learn the lesson on chasing skunks in my backyard. She gets skunked at least 4 times each summer and just doesn't learn. Seriously, am I any brighter just cuz I am too lazy to go skunk chasing? Not so much.

In Him,
Joyful
