"I'm not much of a high school reunion guy anymore; too many old people!" That is a quote I got from a high school friend who missed our reunion this summer. That makes me smile. After our 10th reunion, Ron and I came home and commented on how old everyone was. Then we saw the pictures and you know, we looked just as old as everyone else!
Now we have been out of school 34 years and everyone looks great! They all talked about their grandkids and what their plans are for retirement. Gone are the days of trying to impress each other with our job titles or remodel jobs. Everyone was just genuinely glad to see each other and hear how things were going. No pomp and circumstance, no competitive bull, just caring people who shared a brief part of each other's lives long, long ago.
This was the best reunion yet. So much better than our actual high school days when we were all trying to figure out how to best be accepted and fit in. There is no way I would go back to being 17 or even 27. I am tahnkful for the blessings God has gifted me with in my life, Heck, I am way too old and tired to go back to all that craziness anyway.
In Him,
Joyful
