If it was a lousy conference my toenails would look much better. That is because I would have ditched out of a session or 2 and got that pedicure I desperately need. But, alas, the conference on Autism I am attending for 2 days has been amazing. I have learned so much I felt like a sponge soaking up all these great ideas that I can use in my classroom.
Next year I am teaching the elementary behavior class for our district and it will stretch me. This program has a lot of adults in and out working with the 8 kiddos in the class. In the past 11 years, it has been just Tammy and me with 20+ kids coming and going. It is going to be an adjustment working with so many others in the classroom and the processes I am learning are going to be so valuable. There are nonverbal ways to set up the classroom to minimize the chaos and maximize the consistency and functioning of the class.
The exciting thing is these techniques will make our program even more excellent for our students who deserve the best practices from all of us. So, although I may still have crusty feet, I am thankful for this excellent training.
In Him,
Joyful
