An Instant Can Change Everything

In the blink of an eye life can change. Today I came within inches of hitting a teen on a skateboard. He came out of nowhere in the middle of the road and was trying to pass me as I was turning left. So close. I thank God that those inches separated us from a possible tragedy. A few inches over and so many lives would have changed. He would have at the very least been severely injured, his family would have been impacted and all those who love him. There is no way I would ever be the same having caused harm to another person.

It reminds me that life is precious. The phone call telling us our  son, Ryan, had died forever changed our lives and the lives of those who loved him and us. Ron and I were naively sitting on the couch after a long day enjoying a little time together one minute and the next the air was sucked out of our lives.

So often we go rushing through life and don't take that pause to appreciate how wonderful life is. How blessed we are for the health and love of those around us. A skateboarder reminded me to cherish the life and love I have.

Today I am grateful that a reckless skateboarder in my blindspot and I are shaken but not destroyed.

In Him,
Joyful
