More Than Workmates

Change can be hard to embrace mostly because we get comfortable with the way things are. Even when it seems like a move is a good thing it still takes adjusting to the new situation. My favorite playmate at work may be taking a new position that could move her out of my work life completely. Instead of encouraging her when she called with this news, I selfishly focused on the impact it would have on me. I hate when God puts the mirror up and reveals my self absorbed spirit.

This year I am being stretched by a new opportunity at work and should be and will be thrilled for her if this new position works out for her. The truth is that I will just miss her being available each and every day.  I just pray for an open heart and the courage to know our friendship is not based on working side by side.

Pray for me to be a grown up and support my friend as God stretches us both professionally.
