At the end of the day I come home and sit on the swing on my back porch and catch up on facebook and listen to happy sounds from the park behind my house. Yesterday was just one more afternoon as I smiled at the soccer teams going through their stretches and , prancing around the field like fine young horses.
As the dogs started to bark, I looked up and was shocked to see my mom walking up with a huge grin on her face. My mom lives in Arizona 500 miles away! I couldn't even think what to say. "Mom? What are you doing here? How did you get here? Mom?'
Sunday, our son is being ordained as a pastor at the Calvary Chapel in our hometown. It is something that she just couldn't and wouldn't miss. Her presence will make the day even more memorable.
Cam was on his way home from work yesterday when I called and told him I really needed him to stop by. When he came through the door and saw his Grandma he was moved. That she came for his special day so touched him.
Mom is 76 years old and both her sisters suggested she take the train or the bus to get here. My sister worried that if she surprised us we may be out to dinner or running errands. But Mom has always drove and knew that the fun of the surprise would be worth taking the chance she may be here reading her book for a while before we got home. She was right! I just couldn't believe when she just walked up on the porch.
All my kids will be here this weekend. Now his Grandma will join the celebration as Cam takes one more step in dedicating his life to sharing Christ's love with others. How blessed!
In Him,
Joyfully proud mom and daughter
