Success Shining In Their Eyes

Paychecks and benefits are why we get up and go to work everyday. But if we are fortunate enough to find something that fulfills us we are truly joyful. It is a challenge, a passion, a gift that I am in this classroom working beside dedicated people who love working with kids. Each day is bringing rewards as we watch these kids blossom with confidence and successes. Step by step they are realizing their strengths as they dip their toes into the mainstream population.

None of us are perfect and all of us have fears and apprehensions. The way we overcome our reluctance toward anything is to actually do it and have success. Each day we are allowed to support and celebrate with these elementary students as they courageously take those risks and find acceptance among their peers. The flip side of this equation is the amazing students in our school who are reaching out to include them in their regular ed classes. Often this includes overlooking the occasional outburst by my kiddos when they slip back into old habits.

I have never worked harder, never been more consumed by my job, and never felt more rewards. A friend said I should get teacher of the year. Although I wouldn't turn that honor down, I don't need the title to know the difference this program is making everyday. The peace and pride in our student's eyes tells it all.

In Him,
Joyful
