Not Political But Parental

As a teacher of students who come from homes that are politically diverse, I try to remain neutral on my opinions on politics at work. At home, I of course have my opinions and beliefs but love all and would never want to alienate or judge others for their views. But recently I heard something that seemed so wise I want to put it out there.

Having grown children I know my advice to them would be to guide them to success, joy, and putting others before themselves. I am sure if they found themselves buried in debt, my advice would not be to spend more. In fact, I would hope they would find anyway they could to cut back and do with less. Besides cutting back on their spending, I would hope they would work extra hard. Take on a second job or find another way to make money. The quicker they could pay off their debt the less it would cost them in the long run. We all know that!

So why would we think our government spending its way out of debt is sound thinking? That doesn't make much sense. Now when I listen to each side of the argument from the politicians they can all confuse me with their spin. But the idea of what would I want my kids to do makes sense to me. Hope it might to you.

In Him,
Joyful
