I must admit that I like looking at the statistics of how my writing is reaching others. This blog was started with a sweet teen friend and became a healing tool for me through my loss of Ryan. I write for myself mostly but enjoy that others are touched by my life stories. This blog connects me closer to my faith. My hope is that it will serve my family and friends as a sort of history through my eyes of our lives together. But I also love that even people far away that I will never meet see my heart and my faith. This is a behind the scene look at the statistics from this month of my blog. Mine is a modest blog with around 100 views a day. I realize that the number of hits does not mean my words have been read each of those times. But there are certain trends that are consistent.
What matters most is the act of writing. I encourage others to write as an outlet. It may even be a good idea to not share your blog address. Then you can write unfiltered. I now share it on Facebook and enjoy seeing comments and likes from friends. But the writing early in the morning is my time and that is most precious. Thank you for reading and commenting. I appreciate you allowing me to share my heart with you.
An interesting stat is which blogs are read most often. It occurs to me that the title of my posts is what pops up when someone does a search. The top 3 post views are usually the same. People search for food recipes, card games or Christmas and these posts pop up. King of Hearts is not about cards at all but about Ryan whose name means King. I love that Our Amazing Love Story is also viewed often.
I agree with you, blogging is a way to reach out to people world wide, that you would never have known otherwise. I look at my blog statistics once in a while cuz it is interesting to see which posts people read the most.
