Ron got me an Echo for Christmas. I was skeptical. I was wrong. I love it. It makes me nostalgic. Mom and I are listening to all her old favorites and so many of Dad’s as well. Thirty years ago when dad was so sick with lung cancer, he asked me to find The Streak by Ray Stevens. He was desperate for Todd and Troy to hear that song. Let me just say it took an effort for me to get that cassette. No You Tube or Amazon to just go get the song. I had to trek down to a music store and order it. Dad was right it was a big hit with my adolescent nephews. Yesterday, I just had to say ‘Alexa, play The Streak’ and it was playing immediately. I asked her to make it louder and she did. How cooperative!
Mom loved hearing how Ethyl kept looking at the naked, running guy and in the end stripped down to join him. I highly recommend this listen. I am calling Todd and Troy who are now in their forties and asking them to relisten and to know that Dad wanted to watch them get a kick out of Ray Stevens while he was here to see their faces. His love and our memories still surround us all these decades later.
