The Price is Right Turn Around

Choices can be tough to make sometimes. From the simple ones like which toothbrush to buy or whether to cut your hair to the major ones like when to retire or how many kids to have. Choices can be tough but the one thing that is sure, it is good when you come to a decision. The wishy washy wobbling is the toughest part. Then when you commit you can embrace your path and move on. Of course we may never know if we made the better decision but life moves on with our steps in place.

It always bothered me when I watched The Price is Right on TV. Contestants would look back at family or friends in the audience to pick the right price even though those people had as much chance of guessing right as the contestant did. The hard truth is sometimes we need to check for others opinion but ultimately we need to make our own decisions. After all, we are the ones who are going to live with those decisions.  Two things happen when we look to others to make our choices. One is that their can be hurt feelings when and if we don’t choose their advice. Second is we will not have to own our choice if we let someone else make it for us. Then depending on the results we can’t take the glory or the failure because we didn’t own it. There might even be resentment of the other person for choosing wrong. In reality you did choose just with the choice to let another decide for you.

Hmmmmm, I seem to be deep thinking this morning. In the middle of the night someone asked me what to do about a situation in his life. My nimble text fingers were ready to micromanage the situation because of course I know best. My opinions are solid. Luckily for him, I chose to hold my text and instead told him to consult his life mate and Pray. I don’t know if he will do what I would have advised but I am letting go of my ‘know it all’ spirit and trying to be more of a Pray about it person. Maybe I am still growing at 62 years old. I sure hope so.

In Him,
Joyful
