Why is too much never enough? Our kitchen is finally in and I am beginning the task of arranging the endless amount of stuff to put on our shelves. It amazes me that we have over thirty mugs for only two of us. Now I can understand why there are three peanut butters open. I had one at school when I was teaching last semester, one from motorhome and one in our backporch kitchen. My hope is to rid out and not burden us with more than we need. Four can openers is that really a thing? Ron would love to have every shelf and drawer only 50% full. That way we don’t have to move everything to get to anything. The other side of letting go of items we don’t need or have duplicates of is to gift someone else who could truly use them. Sentiment is my enemy in this process. Yesterday I found myself placing a mug or a plate on the shelf because of who gave it to us or memories of coffee with a friend. Nope, I am not falling into this trap.
The other side of too much is never enough is the desire to go purchase more for our new kitchen. We will have to get dishes since we donated ours at the start of this project. But acquiring more because it would be new and shiny and match our cabinets or countertops is not the way to roll. We need to be satisfied with what we have and not burden ourselves with over stuffing. So my motto for this week is ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, and ˆLET GO AND RID OUT! Now to get back to unpacking with my donate box at my feet beside me.
In Him,
Joyful
