Mom Says Yes. What a Lesson

I adore my Mom’s heart. Yesterday after we went to church she wanted to go outside to take a walk in the snow. It was a light flurry of snowflakes that just lit her face up with a smile. She decided that she wanted to run in the snow. What? Mom run? Yep. She jogged a few steps with her walker through the  snow. Thankfully, I caught it on tape. Mom saying if we are going to go we are going to run. Then she added that she hoped I was strong since I was going to have to carry her home. She is so fun. The snowflakes were settling on her hat and gloves. Mom even stuck out her tongue to catch a few flakes on her tongue. Such a fun glimpse of my Mom’s spirit.

Mom pushes herself even now at 84 with health problems. She just has that spirit of saying yes to life. She is looking forward to an RV trip to visit Tanner. Her face lights up just like in our snow walk when I tell her we are going to see T.

This is such a reminder to me to live life and not say no but yes when opportunities come up. The truth is I am not too tired, sad or lazy. Each opportunity is a choice that I can participate in or sit out. More often I need to move into experiences rather than avoid them. Mom is still teaching me even as we both are in our senior moments. I love you Mom. I can’t imagine life without you. What a gift this time is with you.

In Him,
Joyful
