Community is key to our living life abundantly. I can’t imagine going through my life without my community, posse, family of friends. Being able to pick up the phone and share a disappointment or hurt, a success or victory is about sharing and getting the feedback of one who is heart connected to me. Some say we are FB like addicts. Well that is true. We want to be validated that our hearts are heard by others.
There are those in life that we respond and reach out to daily and those who we turn to a few times a year. Both are important to our growth and wholeness. This week I heard from my Julie who I haven’t spoken with in a year. The connection between us was just as real as when we were raising young ones and depended on each other daily for support. We even decided since our husbands traveled so much that it’s seven kids between us we both needed a wife to share the daily tasks of our busy lives. Over the years we still refer to each other as Wifey. Whether it is grabbing something at the grocery store for a neighbor, carpooling, or running out for a Diet Coke we need each other in our lives.
There is a saying of Refrigerator Friends that I have shared before in this blog. Those people that we can show up unannounced at their home and be comfortable enough to make our own cup of coffee. Likewise, they are at home in our home enough to kick off their shoes and put their toes on our couch. The friends that we don’t tidy up for or feel like we have to entertain are our hearts. We need our hearts to walk with us through this life of ours. I am more than thankful for my community.
In Him,
Joyful
