Missing Mom Already, Grateful That She Will Be Back in a Couple Months

My Mom is back with my sister in Arizona. I am so grateful for the past few months and my time with her. It is hard to think that I won’t see her for at least six weeks. I am glad Ron and I will be busy packing and then taking off on a month long trip to the Northwest to see family and friends. The house would just feel too lonely without Mom’s smile at the window telling me what is going on at our park.

So many friends at my age have been without their Mom’s for way too long. I know how blessed I am to have mine right here beside me. I don’t know how much longer Mom will be with me but for now I am beyond grateful for her and our connection. She can be so funny reacting to my antics. She is still good at rolling her eyes or raising an eyebrow when I go too far. Though her memories have faded her love of life has not. She brightened up at the thought of a trip to go see her Tanner. She is smarter than any of us. Her diet now consists of corn on the cob, watermelon, cheeseburgers and ice cream. Yes, we get her to eat more healthy foods too but this is her ‘eat every bite’ foods.

I know it will be an adjustment from my house to Teri’s but we both want to spend this time with Mom so sharing her is working right now. Though our houses and lifestyles are not the same we need to remember that we both have the heart to provide the best care and time spent with Mom. Sharing is hard for both of us. Mom has always been our best friend and we both want her with us. This is a good time to encourage and support rather than judge and condemn.

It was a hard ride home without Mom in the car with me. But she will be back in a few months and there will be even more kiddos and families at the park to watch as the warm weather approaches. Mom can let me know all that is going on out our window. Heck, we will be able to open the window and let the happy sounds flood in. Until then........
