I am currently sitting here by a wall of windows with a hot mug of coffee looking out at the rain, low clouds and beautiful lake surrounded by forest. What a relaxing moment. What makes it even better is that my grandkids are laying here beside me on the couch chatting and watching a not so good internet signal. What a gift this birthday week is to be with family in such a beautiful setting.
Moments like this are what life is created to be. How blessed I feel to have the resources to spend these times with each of them. Yesterday Ron was teaching Kayla to chop wood. K is a strong, determined 11 year old. She is curious and and always ready to try whatever comes in her path. Kenzie is the one who defies teenage myths. She is ready at a moment to help out and be there to support others, especially her little sister and brother. Tim is our energetic 9 year old. He is excited about life and shows it in his sometimes loud, exuberant reaction to practically everything. Cam just had kidney stone surgery yet he grilled our dinner on the deck last night. He may be walking slow and not feeling top notch but he is here to enjoy his family. Brittney just left for a run on this rainy, foggy day. She doesn’t let anything keep her from her commitment to training for the marathon at the end of April. Her kiddos are learning from watching their Mom stay committed. That is powerful stuff.
Papa and I are so blessed with this time together. Natalie and Nate are making the three hour trip up here after she gets off work tonight. They won’t get here till after midnight and we know that we are gifted that they are choosing to drive up for just one day. Their lives are so busy with wedding planning, finding a new place to live, jobs and school. Taking a day off with us in this beautiful setting will be a wonderful break. I am thrilled to have Nate in our family. He is beyond perfect for my daughter and pretty great to us as well.
So I am going to take pictures, videos, and spend time with these incredible people that fill my heart.
In Him,
Joyful
